Mustang track looks back on winning year

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS track and field varsity teams competed in the FHSAA State championship this past weekend at IMG Academy. Both teams experienced success as the girls finished fourth overall in class 4A while the boys also finished fourth in 4A. The teams were led by overwhelming efforts by seniors Sophia Falco and John Rivera, as they scored the majority of the points for their respective teams.

LRHS initial film festival sees promising opening

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The very first LRHS film festival took place in the auditorium at 6 p.m. Thursday night. The purpose of the festival was to present different short films produced by both Film 1 and Film 2 students. As the first film festival at Lakewood, it was a great opportunity for the students to show off what they’ve learned and how they’ve improved in making their own films.

Track teams gallop through FSU Relays

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS boys and girls varsity track and field teams competed at the Florida State University (FSU) Relays this past weekend, Friday, Mar. 24 and Saturday, Mar. 25. Both teams came out with successful results. The Mustang boys finished sixth out of 55 teams and the girls finished tied for 19th out of 55 teams.

Mustangs race to Charlotte Invitational

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS varsity track and field team took part in the Charlotte Invitational this past weekend on Friday, March 10. The boys took second place behind Port Charlotte High School, and the girls placed fifth while Charlotte High School took first. The winners for the boys included Andrew Dean in the 800-meter run, Brice Easton in the 3200-meter run, Jonathan Reid in the 1600-meter run, along with the 4×800 and 4×400 meter relays.

Boys soccer needs overtime to advance in playoffs

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Mustangs boys soccer team won their regional quarterfinal matchup Wednesday night against Tampa Steinbrenner by a score of 2-1 in overtime. Senior Connor Bezet scored the game winning goal off an assist from junior Pablo Vargas to send the Mustangs to the regional semifinals.

Girls basketball heading for DC tourney

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- This weekend the LRHS girls varsity basketball team will travel to Washington D.C. to participate in the “She Got Game” Classic. Head coach Tina Hadley expressed excitement about the opportunity, “The tournament has huge exposure with hundreds of coaches and teams.”. The players are excited as well.

Filly football ready to take the field

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS’s annual Filly Football game will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7 at the Lakewood Ranch football field. This is an event for girls to play in a flag football tournament that benefits the Student Government Association (SGA). There are a total of four games being played.

Boys cross-country enjoys best finish ever

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS boys and girls cross country teams ended their seasons at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee at the state meet last Saturday, Nov. 5. The boys finished as the Class 4A state runners-up while the girls placed 14th. The boys were led by senior John Rivera, junior Kyle Wray, and senior Brice Easton, who all placed in the top 50.

Mustangs are excited for a new season to start. Whether it’s eating chicken wings and pizza or wearing crazy clothes for your favorite team, it’s that time of year.

Mustangs welcome new lab manager

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – New LRHS computer lab manager Luke Yanelli has joined the staff. He is coming over from Team Success School of Excellence, a charter school in Bradenton. Yanelli said he wants to be a presence behind the scenes at LRHS. “I’m looking forward to doing ‘background music,'” he joked, “and making sure that everything runs smoothly.”.
